American Millinery Creations

.
On my blog It's About Time, I just posted a series of paintings by Edgar Degas (1834–1917) of French women in millinery shops in the late 19th century. America certainly was not France, but hats did come into fashion in the 19th-century, although many women preferred the traditional bonnets. Here are a few American hats.
