When I think of Arthur B. Davies (1862-1928), I imagine dancing nudes in mythical landscapes. And I also wonder how he pulled off having two separate wives & families which were unknown to each other until after his death. These paintings, sans nudes, give us a hazy a glimpse into the late 19th century. I am especially intrigured by the harnassed little boy.
